How can we do this? Instead of the more traditional chiropractic manipulation that may be provided for a spinal problems, the manipulation procedure that we use for disc conditions typically involves a low force technique aimed at reducing the pressure inside the disc and getting the bulged or herniated section to draw back to a more proper position and pulled off the nerve that it may be compressing. In addition to this, if the patient is an appropriate candidate, we use non-surgical spinal decompression - a mechanical traction based therapy - to assist in this process. An important added benefit of this therapy is that the intermittent nature of the traction causes repeated drops in pressure inside the disc which increases the flow of nutrients to this area and helps speed the healing process. If you have already had testing performed for your condition - such as MRI, EMG, CT, etc - we recommend that you bring the test results with you (radiology reports are sufficient if you have them) or, if you prefer, you may fax these results to our office before your appointment.
